I bought a Samsonite Aluminum Attaché case, thinking that Samsonite is the best based on previous purchases. I was wrong. This particular case was made by a Samsonite subcontractor that is licensed to use their brand name. The handle just came undone within a couple days causing the case and contents to drop to the ground. The combination lock would not unlock, the combination for both sides was 1 2 3, simple huh? I went through 000 all the way to 999 on both sides, and ended up having to pry the P.O.S. open to get my laptop.
Samsonite used to be great quality. I still have some suitcases from decades ago. Because of the latest experience, I will never buy one of their products ever again. To make matters worse, their customer service would not even respond to emails.
Calling did not work either. I tried contacting them when the handle came off (third day of ownership, first day of use). No response and needing my laptop, which there is no way in Hell, that I am shipping it with the case to be repaired or exchanged. I decided to say screw the $120 case and just get my laptop out of it. There are (were) cheap tiny plastic rivets, not metal, and no welds which made this case the most inferior quality ever to be produced. I seen reviews that gave this product great praise, those people must had gotten something entirely different, perhaps not subcontracted, or they spoke too soon. Now, I just store parts in the case, which is shut with a belt that holds the upper and lower part together, how ghetto. By the way, the cardboard box it came it, is still holding up fine after being used to transfer my Play Station across the country.
I seen a knock off of this case at Geeks.com, for $15.99 plus shipping. It is probably just as inferior but the price is much better. I think that if I ever need a case in the future that I will opt to buy from Pelican instead.
